ABOUT EDDIE MENSORE
Eddie Mensore is a West Virginia-born writer, director, and producer whose work is deeply rooted in Appalachia and the communities that shaped him. While based in Atlanta, his storytelling remains grounded in the people, landscapes, and lived experiences of overlooked regions, bringing authenticity and emotional truth to the screen.
He is the founder of Emphatic Films, an independent production company dedicated to telling stories that reflect real communities and resonate beyond traditional industry pipelines. From development through production and distribution, Emphatic takes a hands-on, grassroots approach, connecting films directly with the audiences they represent and building momentum from the ground up.
Mensore’s breakout feature Mine 9 became one of the best-reviewed independent films of 2019, reaching number one at the box office in more than half of its locations across North America.
His follow up film, Hazard, was released internationally in theaters by Emphatic Films in 2025 and later distributed digitally through Quiver Distribution. The film expanded beyond traditional exhibition, partnering with recovery organizations to host community screenings and raise awareness around the opioid crisis.
The company’s newest feature, Between the Rails, marks an evolution in tone, a lyrical, music-driven coming-of-age story set in segregated 1950s Appalachia, where sound, culture, and environment shape identity.
Emphatic Films exists to tell stories that matter and to ensure they reach the people who need them most.
